Juliet Alabaster, General Manager
As General Manager, Juliet Alabaster leads a team of dedicated business event professionals who work to attract meetings, conferences, exhibitions and incentives to Brisbane, and maximise attendance at these events. Juliet grew up in the tourism industry and gained further experience working for a Professional Conference Organiser and a business event venue. Since joining the Business Events team in 2008, Juliet has developed a vast working knowledge of all aspects of business event bidding, business development, services and promotion. She also leads Brisbane Marketing’s Major Events division. Juliet has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Business (Management) from The University of Queensland.

Holly Aldridge, Bidding Manager
As Bidding Manager, Holly Aldridge leads a team of bidding executives who are focused on developing high value competitive bid wins for major national and international business events. Working with clients, industry and members, Holly provides expertise in managing bidding strategies, preparing bid documentation and presentations, lobbying decision makers and hosting city site inspections. Holly joined the Business Events team in 2012, following previous roles at Queensland Tourism Industry Council and VisitBritain. Holly has a Bachelor of Business Management (Tourism Management) from The University of Queensland.
Jill Wimberley, Bidding Executive
Jill Wimberley joined the Business Events team in 2012 working in membership coordination before transitioning to business development and bidding. As Bidding Executive, Jill specialises in project managing the bid process to secure conferences and incentives for Brisbane. She works with association and corporate clients, in partnership with industry and members, to showcase Brisbane’s strengths and world-class event infrastructure. This is facilitated through preparing bid proposals, presentations, hosting site inspections, lobbying and influencing decision makers.
Yi Yang, Business Development and Bidding Coordinator (Asia)
Yi Yang joined the Business Events team in 2019 as Business Development and Bidding Coordinator (Asia). In this role, Yi assists the team in achieving greater economic outcomes for Brisbane by attracting incentive events from Asian countries. Yi’s background is in business management, and Chinese translation and interpreting. She holds a Master of Business and Master of Arts from The University of Queensland.
Kylie McKenzie, Business Development Manager
Kylie McKenzie joined the Business Events team in 2008 to provide research support before developing her skills in business development. She has extensive domestic and international experience in hotels, catering and event management. This knowledge teamed with a passion for Brisbane uniquely places Kylie to assist clients in facilitating successful business events.
Gary Pearce, Business Development Manager
Gary Pearce joined the Business Events team in 2015, bringing 15 years’ experience in hotel sales, having worked at Australian and international hotels and resorts. As Business Development Manager, Gary ensures Brisbane is front of mind for clients considering locations for conferences and events.
Jessica O'Gorman, Business Development Manager
Jessica O’Gorman joined the Business Events team in 2017 as Business Development Manager, bringing more than 13 years’ experience in both business events operational and sales roles around the world. Previously Jessica worked at the RNA in Brisbane and the Convention Bureau and Convention Centre in Cairns.
Ashley Ng, Senior Manager, Market Development Asia
Ashley Ng joined Brisbane Marketing in 2010. As Senior Manager, Market Development Asia, Ashley is responsible for business development activities in Asia, with a focus in incentives. Ashley has over 20 years’ experience in the Australian public and private sectors and her experience includes in Sino-Australian affairs management, export facilitation, investment attraction, and sales and marketing in international education and tourism.
Tamara Bogdan, Business Development Coordinator
Tamara Bogdan joined the Business Events team in 2017 as a Business Development Coordinator. She has extensive experience within hotels and resorts both in Australia and overseas, working for Disney World Resorts in Florida. Teaming her experience and passion for Brisbane, Tamara is now focused on supporting the team through business development.
Stephanie Heyneke, Business Development and Bidding Coordinator
Stephanie Heyneke joined the team in 2017 as Business Development and Bidding Coordinator. Along with conference bidding, Stephanie supports the business development team on key projects, including the Lord Mayor’s Convention Trailblazer Grant. Stephanie’s background is in communications and events in the political and non-profit space, and she is currently completing her post-graduate study in marketing.

Lorelle Chittick, Senior Manager, Business Events
Lorelle Chittick joined the Business Events team in 2005 in the role of Marketing Executive for the Conventions team then managing familiarisations and events before becoming Convention Services Manager. In this role, Lorelle leads the strategic direction of the membership, familiarisations and trade events and client services teams. Lorelle has a strong conventions, tourism, business and major events background having worked across a diverse range of companies in the UK, Canada and Australia.
Patricia Cuppaidge, Membership Manager, Business Events
Patricia Cuppaidge is responsible for Membership across the tourism and business events portfolio with a focus on retention and attraction of members, as well as selling the team’s cooperative marketing campaigns. Patricia’s numerous years of experience in the retail industry and 20 years in various roles at Brisbane Marketing have enabled her to establish and maintain relationships with members to maximise their membership benefits.
Courtenay Brown, Project Executive, Business Events
Courtenay Brown joined the Business Events team in 2017, supporting membership and events before progressing to Project Executive. In this role, Courtenay is responsible for leading the operational logistics and project management of the team's participation in trade activity for international tradeshows, events and conferences. This includes managing the team’s client experience programs including site inspections and familiarisations and assisting in the direct sales effort by actioning reactive business leads and opportunities for Brisbane Marketing members.
Carmel Akhavari, Business Events Project Executive
Carmel Akhavari joined the Business Events team in 2018, having previously worked within Brisbane Marketing’s tourism and major events teams. Carmel project manages the teams’ participation in trade activity for national tradeshows, events and attendance at conferences, along with coordinating client experience programs such as tailored site inspections and familiarisations and assisting in the direct sales effort by actioning reactive business leads and opportunities for Brisbane Marketing members. Carmel also works with the membership team to coordinate the annual schedule of member industry and networking events and activity.
