It is important for Brisbane to engage with the Chinese MICE market because:
As Australia’s third-largest capital city, Brisbane has many competitive advantages including our rich MICE offering, research strengths and world-class facilities. This, along with our passionate people and welcoming approach gives me confidence when putting Brisbane forward to clients.
Chinese clients are interested in Brisbane because:
A range of reasons including our safety, natural beauty, wildlife experiences, aquatic and coastal experience, World Heritage attractions, and high-quality food and beverage. All of these experiences being accessible within one-hour travel time of Brisbane is very appealing to clients.
One thing Brisbane can learn from the Chinese MICE industry is:
Being based in China allows me to give my Brisbane colleagues insight into the preferences of Chinese MICE clients. It’s also important to communicate through platforms that reach Chinese audiences, such as Wechat.
My idea of a fun weekend involves:
I would start with a nice brekkie and coffee at Coffee Anthology, followed by some relaxing at Streets Beach at South Bank Parklands, then lunch at Stokehouse Q (which in my opinion has the best chips in the city) before a cultural tour at the Queensland Art Gallery & Gallery of Modern Art.
If time allowed, I’d take in the spectacular city views from the Emporium Hotel South Bank’s Terrace rooftop bar before heading to Eat Street markets for a relaxed dinner by the Brisbane River.
I’ve always wanted to travel to:
The Kingdom of Bhutan. I would like to discover why it has the world’s highest Gross National Happiness.
