Ian Klug (Chairman), Company Director
Ian is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is a non-executive Director of the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts and formerly a director of the Wide Bay Water Corporation, where he also sat on the Audit and Risk Committee. Ian is also Chairman of both Place Design Group, an international planning and design company, and the Lord Mayor’s Economic Development Steering Committee. Previous roles and appointments include Partner of Pitcher Partners Chartered Accountants, Chairman of Queensland Artworkers Alliance, Director of Tennis Queensland and Councillor of Tennis Australia.
Liz Savage, Company Director
Liz is a full-time Company Director, experienced in scaling businesses organically and by acquisition, governance of organisations in change and with expertise in strategy, marketing & digital commerce. She applies customer-centred leadership to her portfolio of ASX200, private, local government & not-for-profit Director roles spanning the competitive tourism, travel, hospitality, workforce & tech sectors. Liz previously held C-suite executive roles in high growth, disruptive consumer businesses in the UK, Europe & Australia: as Business Development Director of easyJet & Chief Commercial Officer of Virgin Australia. Alongside her Directorship at Brisbane Marketing, Liz is currently a Non-Executive Director of ASX200 Mantra Group Ltd, ASX-listed People Infrastructure Ltd and Triathlon Australia Pty Ltd.
Adam Penberthy, Founder and Creative Director - Fresh
Adam Penberthy is the founder and Creative Director of youth advertising agency Fresh. As a member of Gen Y (Adam is 29) Adam is regarded as a leader in communicating with youth, specialising in engaging under-30s through experiential marketing, new-media, social media, social networking and Web 2.0. Adam has worked on campaigns for various governments as well as brands such as Hell Pizza, QUT, Channel 10 and AOT Holidays.
John Shepherd, Managing Partner - Gallus Partnerships Pty Limited
John comes from a banking, real estate and property development background working for large listed corporate institutions as well as boutique real estate and development companies. After studying at the University of Sydney, John worked at NAB and NatWest Australia Bank. In his roles John pursued new business origination across a range of industries including property development and property backed lending transactions, as well as debt workouts. John entered the real estate business in 1994, and has originated, delivered and structured small and large projects across the commercial, industrial, residential, retail and land subdivisions sectors. This has included large projects in Sydney, Brisbane and Dubai. John is currently a Board Member at Brisbane Marketing and the Brisbane Racing Club, as well as holding Advisory Board positions at other private companies.
Monica Bradley, Director - Purposeful Capital
Monica is a leading authority on Innovation Strategic Insights. She uses engaging real life examples to take organisations to the likely future, identify their business model vulnerabilities and determine the experiments and engagements required to give insights upon which strategic direction and innovation will be based. Her deep experience creating strategy across diverse sectors and on three continents and deep understanding of digital disruption, provides Monica with unique insights to define and reinvent how organisations deliver sustainable results. She accelerates the strategic planning responses to disruptive technologies and the changing world of work. In her capacity as a strategist, Monica has advised a variety of start ups, boards and organisations on improving their agility and nimbleness in strategy execution.
Helen Besly, Managing Director
Helen has more than 35 years’ experience providing strategic counsel in communication, issues management and organisational change. Helen is widely regarded as one of the leading minds in Australia’s communication industry and is known for her insightful and candid approach to business and communication challenges. Helen is managing director of Rowland, a communication, digital and creative agency. Prior to joining Rowland in 1996, Helen lived in Hong Kong where she was Vice President and Deputy Managing Director of global PR firm Burson-Marsteller. She is a Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of Australia, a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Chief Executive Women, the Queensland Community Foundation Board of Governors and QUT’s Business School Academic Board. An active member of the Queensland business community Helen was awarded a Centenary Medal for her services to Australian business leadership and has also won a Telstra Business Award
