Brisbane Marketing appointed Alex Blauensteiner as its new General Manager, Business Innovation, Skills & Trade Development in March.
Before taking up the role he held a prominent global business innovation role as Managing Director (Europe) for Technology Reserve in Austria.
In a previous role in Brisbane he was Director, Industry Collaboration for the Australian Institute of Commercialisation and is thrilled about being back.
Alex shares what motivates him and brought him home to Brisbane.
What is special to you about Brisbane?
Apart from it being where I come from, it is a place I want to raise my family and I brought them back here specifically to do so.
What do you see as the city’s biggest opportunity?
It is a city where you can build a rewarding career while having a lifestyle second to none.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
Being able to shape the future of the city and working with people who are as passionate as me, to do great things for the city and its residents.
Favourite sport and or team:
Favourite Brisbane restaurant:
I’m not sure yet! I am still discovering those that popped up while I was living away, but for a Sunday afternoon I love a steak at the Norman Hotel.
Brisbane’s best-kept secret:
Brisbane is perhaps its own best-kept secret. We tend to take what we have for granted.
It is clean, modern and cosmopolitan, with great weather, a high standard of living and is highly innovative in many ways.
When I’m not at work you’ll find me...
Trying my best to be a good dad and husband (the jury is still out!), spending time with friends, cooking and eating, enjoying a good red wine, on my mountain bike, renovating our house or enjoying a good movie.
