Brisbane Airport Corporation appoints new CEO
Brisbane Airport Corporation has appointed Gert-Jan De Graaff, CEO of JFKIAT LLC, the operator of Terminal 4 at New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport, to lead the company from June, 2018. Mr De Graaff will replace BAC’s current CEO and MD Julieanne Alroe, who will retire from the company at the end of the financial year. Read more.
Brisbane will come alive for five days and four nights with an epic program of science and art when the third annual World Science Festival Brisbane returns on 21- 25 March. The 2018 festival will focus on ‘humanity’ as scientists from across the globe delve into what makes us human, how humanity has advanced, and how science is working to ensure we live better for longer. Australia takes on Germany in the Davis Cup
Australia has the home soil advantage as they take on Germany in the first round of the Davis Cup from 2-4 February at Pat Rafter Arena. Don your green and gold and head to Queensland Tennis Centre to see Aussies including Nick Kyrgios and Jordan Thompson take on the German challengers, including young tennis superstar Alexander Zverev. Brisbane will be plunged into hysterics from 23 February to 25 March when the city’s largest ever line-up of the best Aussie and international acts lay comical siege to three venues – Brisbane Powerhouse, Brisbane City Hall and new venue SunPAC – as part of Brisbane Comedy Festival 2018. The Brisbane Powerhouse will once again present Supercell, an annual contemporary dance festival, from Saturday 10 to Sunday 18 February. The Festival showcases the highest-calibre contemporary dance to develop and connect choreographers, dancers, and audiences alike in a celebration of city, culture and community.
The Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival is back from 12 May to 9 June with Queensland’s swankiest food, fashion, racing and entertainment. The Brisbane Festival, featuring a program of music, theatre, dance comedy, opera and circus performances will run from 8 – 29 September. The festival will once again wrap up with the ultimate Sunsuper Riverfire fireworks display on Saturday, 29 September.
