The Capital is a $5 million innovation hub committed by Brisbane City Council and Brisbane Marketing to accelerate the city’s growing stature as a centre of innovation in the Asia Pacific region and ensure it continues to thrive in a rapidly globalising economy.
The Capital is designed to:
- Provide co-working space with additional professional support throughout the startup lifecycle
- Provide Brisbane startups with maximum exposure by being located in the heart of the CBD
- Increase connection of Brisbane startups to corporate and government customers and partners
- Showcase Brisbane’s startup and entrepreneurial talent to residents and visitors alike
The Capital is located at 155 Queen Street and occupies three levels above Zara, with access through the heritage-listed Regent Theatre that is now home to the Visitor Information Centre.
The Capital’s two tenants Fishburners Brisbane and Little Tokyo Two provide startups with affordable co-working office space without costly overheads such as long-term leases and office equipment.
The Capital will allow startups to have unprecedented access to capital, expertise, global markets and commercial networks and will house the city’s peak small business digital education programs, Digital Brisbane, as well as the office of Brisbane’s Chief Digital Officer.
Digital Brisbane is paving the way for Brisbane, Australia’s New World City, to be a more connected and accessible city.
