Juliet Alabaster, General Manager, Tourism, Business and Major Events
Juliet Alabaster is General Manager of Tourism, Business and Major Events with Brisbane’s economic development board, Brisbane EDA. In this role, Juliet leads a team generating long-term economic growth for Brisbane through the attraction and support of meetings, conferences and incentives, as well as major events including sporting blockbusters, cultural performance and exhibitions. Growing up in the tourism industry, Juliet went on to build a career in business events, developing a vast working knowledge of all aspects of event bidding, business development, services and promotion. Working with Brisbane EDA for since 2008, Juliet has been instrumental in raising Brisbane’s profile as a world-class destination to visit, meet and do business. Juliet has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Business (Management) from The University of Queensland.

Holly Aldridge, Senior Manager - Business Events
As Senior Manager – Business Events, Holly Aldridge leads the business development team who are focused on identifying and securing high value national and international conference and incentive business events. Working with clients, industry and members, Holly provides expertise in business development, managing bidding strategies, lobbying decision makers and strategic event leveraging. Holly joined the Business Events team in 2012, following previous roles at Queensland Tourism Industry Council and VisitBritain. Holly has a Bachelor of Business Management (Tourism Management) from The University of Queensland.
Jill Wimberley, Business Development Manager and Bidding
Jill Wimberley joined the Business and Major Events team in 2012 working in membership coordination before transitioning to business development and bidding. As Bidding Executive, Jill specialises in project managing the bid process to secure conferences and incentives for Brisbane. In partnership with industry and members, Jill works with association and corporate clients to showcase Brisbane’s strengths and world-class event infrastructure. This is facilitated through preparing bid proposals, presentations, hosting site inspections, lobbying and influencing decision makers.
Gary Pearce, Business Development Manager and Bidding
Gary Pearce joined the Business and Major Events team in 2015, bringing 15 years’ experience in hotel sales, having worked at Australian and international hotels and resorts. As Business Development Manager, Gary ensures Brisbane is front of mind for clients considering locations for conferences and events.
Stephanie Heyneke, Business Development Executive, Business Events
Stephanie joined the team in 2017, working in business development and bidding across national and international business events. Stephanie’s focus sectors include Agriculture, Food and Beverage, Mining and Resources, Air and Sea Transport, and Business, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship. Stephanie’s background is in communications and events in the political and non-profit space. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English Literature, and a Graduate Certificate in Marketing. In her down time, Stephanie enjoys painting and a good crime show.
Sherry Huang, Business Development Manager, China
Based in Shanghai, Sherry Huang joined the Business and Major Events team in 2013 as Business Development Manager, China. Sherry is responsible for developing and implementing Brisbane EDA’s strategy to increase business event visitation to Brisbane from mainland China. Sherry works with stakeholders and industry partners in China; represents Brisbane EDA at in-market tradeshows, exhibitions and events; and assists with visiting delegations and familiarisations in Brisbane.
Julia Vernon, Senior Procurement Manager, Major Events
An experienced business development, event operations and stakeholder engagement professional, Julia Vernon joined the Business and Major Events team in 2019. Julia's role as Senior Procurement Manager, Major Events focuses on research, development and procurement of city-defining events that drive sustainable economic growth, showcase Brisbane nationally and internationally, and deliver lasting social benefits for Brisbane’s residents. Julia works closely with government and city stakeholders to position Brisbane as a leading event destination with a world-class calendar of major events.
Lorelle Chittick, Head of Event Services, Business and Major Events
Lorelle Chittick joined Brisbane EDA in 2005, working in roles spanning business event marketing, familiarisations and event services before being appointed to Head of Event Services, Business and Major Events. In this role, Lorelle leads the strategic direction and delivery of membership; produced and trade events; and activation, marketing and leveraging of business and major events. Lorelle has a strong conventions, tourism and events background, having worked across a diverse range of companies in the UK, Canada and Australia.
Courtenay Brown, Membership & Event Services - Tourism, Business & Major Events
Courtenay Brown joined the Business and Major Events team in 2017, bringing experience in marketing and event management. As Project Executive, Courtenay delivers the operational logistics and project management of the team’s participation in international tradeshows, events and conferences. Courtenay also manages the team’s client experience programs, including site inspections and familiarisations.
Alyce Renderos, Manager, Event Partnerships, Business and Major Events
Alyce Renderos joined the Business and Major Events team as Manager, Event Partnerships in 2020. In this role, Alyce manages the marketing, leveraging and activation of confirmed business and major events to maximise attendance, length of stay and expenditure in Brisbane. Alyce brings extensive event, sales and marketing experience to the team, having worked for global hotel chains and independents across Australia and the UK.
Lucinda Hunter, Event Services Coordinator, Business and Major Events
Lucinda Hunter joined the Business and Major Events team as Event Services Coordinator in 2020. In this role, Lucinda is responsible for confirmed business and major events administration including records management, marketing, city activation and leveraging. Lucinda’s previous experience at QUT bluebox involved end-to-end event management of entrepreneur accelerator programs and innovation events for Brisbane’s founder community.
Lauren Greene, Events Executive, Business and Major Events
With a background in event and sponsorship delivery, Lauren Greene joined the Business and Major Events team in 2018, working across Brisbane’s major events portfolio. Focusing on sporting and lifestyle events, Lauren works closely with event partners, industry and stakeholders across the city and regions to drive strong economic outcomes for Brisbane. Lauren works to amplify the impact of events on the city through marketing, leveraging and activations to attract out of region visitation, increase length of stay and expenditure, and position Brisbane as a leading events and leisure destination.
Callum Wood, Senior Marketing Manager
Callum joined the Tourism, Business and Major Events Team as Senior Marketing Manager in 2021. Callum leads all destination and event marketing activity for the Greater Brisbane region and drives the strategic direction to position Brisbane as a globally recognised destination to visit, meet and do business. Callum brings extensive strategic marketing experience to Brisbane EDA having worked across some of Australis’s largest events, and managing destination marketing activity in Melbourne, before making the move to Brisbane. Callum holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of International Relations (Diplomacy and Governance) from Bond University, and is currently completing an MBA.
Bec Evans, Marketing Executive
Bec Evans joined the Tourism, Business and Major Events team as Marketing Executive in 2019. Bec provides strategic marketing support to the team to profile Brisbane as a key destination to visit, meet and do business. Having previously worked in national and international teams across various industries, Bec brings a broad range of experience in digital marketing, social media strategy, communications and sponsorship.
