Lorelle Chittick, Acting General Manager - Tourism, Business and Major Events
Lorelle Chittick is the Acting General Manager of Tourism, Business and Major Events with Brisbane’s economic development board, Brisbane EDA. In this role, Lorelle leads a team generating long-term economic growth for Brisbane through the attraction and support of meetings, conferences and incentives; major events including sporting blockbusters, cultural performances and exhibitions, and increasing visitors and visitor spend in Brisbane. Lorelle has a strong conventions, tourism and events background, having worked across a diverse range of organisations in the UK, Canada and Australia. Working with Brisbane EDA since 2005, Lorelle has been instrumental in raising Brisbane’s profile as a world-class destination to visit, meet and do business.
Business Development and Bidding
Holly Aldridge, Senior Manager
As Senior Manager – Business Events, Holly Aldridge leads the business development team who are focused on identifying and securing high value national and international conference and incentive business events. Working with clients, industry and members, Holly provides expertise in business development, managing bidding strategies, lobbying decision makers and strategic event leveraging. Holly joined the Business Events team in 2012, following previous roles at Queensland Tourism Industry Council and VisitBritain. Holly has a Bachelor of Business Management (Tourism Management) from The University of Queensland.
Stephanie Heyneke, Business Development Executive
Stephanie joined the team in 2017, working in business development across national and international business events. Stephanie’s focus sectors include Agriculture, Food and Beverage, Mining and Resources, Air and Sea Transport, and Business, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship. Stephanie’s background is in communications and events in the political and non-profit space. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English Literature, and a Graduate Certificate in Marketing.
Gary Pearce, Business Development Manager
Gary Pearce joined the Business and Major Events team in 2015, bringing 15 years’ experience in hotel sales, having worked at Australian and international hotels and resorts. As Business Development Manager, Gary ensures Brisbane is front of mind for clients considering locations for conferences and events.
Belinda Nuske, Business Development Manager
Belinda joined the team in 2021 after a career of 20+ years in business development and sales within the tourism and hospitality industries. Her focus industries for BEDA include Healthcare, Technology and the Arts. Belinda holds an MBA and is currently studying Law at Queensland University of Technology.
Julia Vernon, Senior Procurement Manager - Major Events
An experienced business development, event operations and stakeholder engagement professional, Julia Vernon joined the Business and Major Events team in 2019. Julia's role as Senior Procurement Manager, Major Events focuses on research, development and procurement of city-defining events that drive sustainable economic growth, showcase Brisbane nationally and internationally, and deliver lasting social benefits for Brisbane’s residents. Julia works closely with government and city stakeholders to position Brisbane as a leading event destination with a world-class calendar of major events.
Alyce Renderos, Acting Senior Manager, Event Partnerships
Alyce Renderos joined the Business and Major Events team as Manager, Event Partnerships in 2020. In this role, Alyce manages the marketing, leveraging and activation of confirmed business and major events to maximise attendance, length of stay and expenditure in Brisbane. Alyce brings extensive event, sales and marketing experience to the team, having worked for global hotel chains and independents across Australia and the UK.
Courtenay Brown, Membership & Event Services Executive
Courtenay Brown joined the Business and Major Events team in 2017, bringing experience in marketing and event management. As Project Executive, Courtenay delivers the operational logistics and project management of the team’s participation in international tradeshows, events and conferences. Courtenay also manages the team’s client experience programs, including site inspections and familiarisations.
Lauren Greene, Event Partnerships Executive
With a background in event and sponsorship delivery, Lauren Greene joined the Business and Major Events team in 2018, working across Brisbane’s major events portfolio. Focusing on sporting and lifestyle events, Lauren works closely with event partners, industry and stakeholders across the city and regions to drive strong economic outcomes for Brisbane. Lauren works to amplify the impact of events on the city through marketing, leveraging and activations to attract out of region visitation, increase length of stay and expenditure, and position Brisbane as a leading events and leisure destination.
Lucinda Hunter, Event Services Coordinator
Lucinda Hunter joined the Business and Major Events team as Event Services Coordinator in 2020. In this role, Lucinda is responsible for confirmed business and major events administration including records management, marketing, city activation and leveraging. Lucinda’s previous experience at QUT bluebox involved end-to-end event management of entrepreneur accelerator programs and innovation events for Brisbane’s founder community.
Tayla Barkhuysen, Project Executive
Tayla Barkhuysen joined the Tourism Business and Major Events team in February 2021, bringing experience in Tourism, Events and Conferences. As a Project Executive, Tayla delivers the operational logistics and project management of the team’s participation in national and international tradeshows, events and conferences. Tayla also manages the Tourism membership and Media Familiarisations.
Callum Wood, Senior Marketing Manager
Callum joined the Tourism, Business and Major Events Team as Senior Marketing Manager in 2021. Callum leads all destination and event marketing activity for the Greater Brisbane region and drives the strategic direction to position Brisbane as a globally recognised destination to visit, meet and do business. Callum brings extensive strategic marketing experience to Brisbane EDA having worked across some of Australis’s largest events, and managing destination marketing activity in Melbourne, before making the move to Brisbane. Callum holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of International Relations (Diplomacy and Governance) from Bond University, and is currently completing an MBA.
Charles Thomas, Digital Marketing Manager
Charles joined the Tourism, Business and Major Events Team as Digital Marketing Manager in 2021. Charles brings a wealth of digital marketing experience in the tourism space having worked alongside global brands including Melbourne's Yarra Valley and iconic Federation Square. Charles holds a Diploma of Design, Bachelor of Business (Marketing), and is currently completing an MBA at RMIT. Charles was also a finalist for Young Australian of the Year in 2013 for his continual volunteer efforts in the community.
Bec Evans, Marketing Executive
Bec Evans joined the Tourism, Business and Major Events team as Marketing Executive in 2019. Bec provides strategic marketing support to the team to profile Brisbane as a key destination to visit, meet and do business. Having previously worked in national and international teams across various industries, Bec brings a broad range of experience in digital marketing, social media strategy, communications and sponsorship.
Grace Callaghan, Digital Content Executive
Grace Callaghan joined the Tourism, Business and Major Events team as Digital Content Executive in 2021. Having previously worked for a national not-for-profit, Grace brings a range of experience in digital marketing including search engine optimisation and monetisation, and social media advertising and strategy.
Anne-Maree Moon, Head of Tourism
Anne-Maree Moon holds the position of Head of Tourism, for Brisbane Economic Development Agency. Having joined the organisation in 2012, Anne-Maree leads the delivery of strategies that drive visitor demand to the city and surrounding region. The work undertaken by the Tourism team ranges from product and experience development, industry capacity building, and implementation of trade, media and consumer activities.
Anne-Maree has an extensive background in the arts and entertainment industry having held marketing and ticketing roles in national and international organisations.
Steven Battle, Distribution Development Manager
After returning from several years in Germany leading the Tourism Australia Distribution and Partnerships Division for Continental Europe, Steven joined the Tourism, Business and Major Events team in 2018, initially delivering partnership projects and then in the role of Senior Distribution Development Manager. Holding degrees in Business and International Studies (Languages and Political Science), Steven is able to draw from his tenure at Tourism Australia and the nine years in various roles at Tourism and Events Queensland prior to that to lead strategic engagement of key distribution channels, building industry capacity and connecting Brisbane operators with conversion partners.
Cathie Johnston, Experience Development Manager
As Experience Development Manager, Cathie is responsible for delivering a major key component of the Brisbane Visitor Economy 2031 Plan for the Brisbane destination and tourism industry - the Brisbane Experience Development Strategy. The position is responsible for establishing and evolving the Brisbane Destination Experience Development Framework, alongside the implementation of a number of tourism industry experience development training initiatives. These are aimed at refreshing and aligning existing tourism businesses with the Brisbane Brand and Experience Development Pillars; and at addressing significant gaps and opportunities in the Brisbane Destination experience supply chain across the city and surrounding region.
Cathie joined BEDA in 2011 and has also developed and delivered a number of major industry and volunteer host programs in previous roles held. Prior career experience includes positions in local government tourism management, consumer interfacing roles across the tourism and events industry spectrum; and education sector programs consultancy. Formal qualifications include a Master in International Tourism and Hotel Management.
Gemma Haskings, Tourism Partnerships Executive
As the Tourism Partnerships Executive, Gemma manages the partnerships between six local government areas (LGAs) that are within BEDA’s Regional Tourism Organisation remit. She works alongside the Tourism team to develop and profile Brisbane as a key leisure destination through industry and experience development initiatives. Gemma commenced at BEDA in 2019 and has over 15 years experience working within the Queensland tourism industry.
