Set to open in late 2018, Brisbane’s game-changing riverfront lifestyle, dining, tourism and event destination Howard Smith Wharves (HSW) is launching a market leading Virtual Reality experience, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in the HSW event experience via head-mounted Virtual Reality displays.

Viewers will be able to preview 360 degree internal views of the HSW exhibition building Howard’s Hall, an 1100 square metre purpose built event centre designed by internationally renowned Woods Bagot architects, which can accommodate events with over 1000 guests.

"With the ability to switch between multiple room layouts and the inclusion of various lighting designs, viewers can experience a preview of what can be achieved within the event space reflecting the quality that HSW will offer clients within this new Brisbane landmark", says Scott Bayne, General Manager of HSW Events.

“Howard’s Hall is going to be such a unique venue with so many incredible features - uninterrupted views of the Story Bridge and city skyline, retractable floor-to ceiling glass windows, partitions to allow the flexible use of space, and rooftop terraces on both sides of the venue, says Bayne. “We’re absolutely thrilled to be adopting this technology to be able to offer clients the ability to instantly immerse themselves in this dramatic space prior to our opening, and visualise how their event will come to life’.

Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said the Howard Smith Wharves redevelopment will enhance Brisbane’s reputation as an ideal business events destination.

“Brisbane has a clear strategy to attract more national and international business events to Brisbane, which forms part of the 2022 New World City Action Plan,” he said.

“Conventions and business events play a significant role in Brisbane’s economy with over 145,000 business event delegates welcomed in 2016-17, generating more than $257 million for our New World City economy.

“Howard Smith Wharves will transform the space under Brisbane’s iconic Story Bridge into a unique riverside event offering for visitors and residents.”
