Meet the team: Melissa Price
My role within Brisbane Economic Development Agency involves:
My role is to lead and manage the operational delivery of the business development and bidding teams within Business Events. We work to deliver the business event attraction strategy for Brisbane to maximise the economic impact of business events secured for the city.
What I'm enjoying most about my role is:
Learning about so many new industry sectors and areas of research. There are some incredible people/companies doing amazing research in the medical and technology fields just to list a few. It is fascinating to learn what people are passionate about and how that research can benefit others.
What I love about Brisbane is...
Everything! The people, the lifestyle and the climate. Where else can you enjoy lunch outdoors in the middle of winter in a t-shirt!
One thing that makes Brisbane an ideal business events destination is:
The city is compact for delegates to be able to walk to and from venues, restaurants and other locations allowing them to experience the city sights and sounds at their leisure.
When I’m not at work you’ll find me...
At the moment - in the gym or hiking through Mt Cootha preparing for my upcoming trip to Kokoda in Papua New Guinea.
When friends/family visit from out of town, I always take them to:
First stop must be Kangaroo Point Cliffs for breakfast, then a city cat ride to get orientated with the city and the major landmarks, then a stop at Eat Street Markets to tempt the taste buds with the huge variety of tasty morsels…and sweet treats!
My favourite restaurant is Brisbane is:
Can’t beat a steak at the iconic Breakfast Creek Hotel. The pub has had a few face lifts over the years, but the menu has always remained consistent.
My perfect holiday would be:
A destination with active things to do – riding a bike, stand up paddle board or snow skiing. I am not a sit under a palm tree read a book type of person.
