Meet the team: Courtenay Brown
Courtenay Brown joined the Brisbane Business Events in 2017 as Membership and Events Executive, providing key support to business, tourism and convention members. Courtenay coordinates membership events and activity, as well as supporting the events team with trade events.
My role with Brisbane Economic Development Agency involves:
Organising membership events, managing incoming requests for proposals and providing ongoing support to our Brisbane EDA Members to help maximise their benefits. I also assist with the organisation of site inspections, familiarisations and a variety of events within the team.
The most enjoyable aspect of my role is:
Constantly meeting new and interesting people and learning about our Members and their offerings.
To be successful in the conventions services field you must be able to:
Build strong relationships and engage with people from all walks of life, and obtain a great deal of product knowledge of local venues and services.
What excites me most about the business events scene in Brisbane is:
It is constantly growing and evolving, and businesses are looking for more unique and experiential-style events which is extremely exciting!
One place I like to show off to new visitors to Brisbane is:
Mr and Mrs G Riverbar. Nothing beats a relaxed atmosphere, live music, delicious cocktails and tapas, and a spectacular view of the Story Bridge.
My favourite time of year in Brisbane is:
Definitely spring. I love the sunshine and the feeling of warmth in the air. There is always a real buzz in the city during this time!
When I’m not at work you’ll find me:
Either swimming in the ocean, venturing up a mountain or busting a move at a local gig.
One country I would like to visit but have never been to is:
South Africa, such a diverse country with everything you could want from a holiday – beautiful beaches, spectacular mountains to hike, incredible safaris, and to top it all off, some great wineries to try.
