Brisbane Marketing appoints General Manager, Business Innovation, Skills & Trade Development

Brisbane Marketing is pleased to announce the appointment of Alex Blauensteiner as its new General Manager, Business Innovation, Skills & Trade Development.
In his new role, Mr Blauensteiner will work closely with the innovation and business community, and the Brisbane Marketing executive team and board to implement key recommendations of the Brisbane City Council’s strategy for economic development, the 2022 New World City Action Plan.
His core focus will be to design and execute growth strategies for Brisbane and to consolidate the city’s reputation as a contemporary, highly skilled entrepreneurial city open for business and investment.
Mr Blauensteiner joins Brisbane Marketing after returning from Austria, where he enjoyed a prominent global business innovation role as Managing Director (Europe) for Technology Reserve.
In a previous role in Brisbane he was Director, Industry Collaboration for the Australian Institute of Commercialisation.
In his new role, Mr Blauensteiner will seek to empower Brisbane business to connect locally and internationally to take advantage of our city’s unique business position.
“In today’s global business world, growing enterprises have to think internationally – we cannot isolate ourselves to the local market anymore”, he said.
“I want to work collaboratively with government and industry, particularly startups and established small and medium enterprises, to build on Brisbane’s growing international business offering.
“Brisbane has a unique opportunity to create a globally leading situation that combines career and commercial opportunities with lifestyle – not many cities can boast all of these factors to attract talent and skills to grow their viability as a trade and investment destination.”
