Brisbane Economic Development Agency launches Future Food Initiative
Brisbane is getting behind its food and beverage innovators with the launch of Future Food Brisbane – an initiative of the city’s economic development board Brisbane EDA. It will assist the food community to expand their capabilities, develop their products and reach new markets. Applications are now open for a range of workshops and programs such as the eight-week Global Readiness Accelerator and Product Development and Market Readiness Incubator.

Vietjet selects Brisbane as its first Australian destination
Vietnam's Vietjet Air plans to fly to Brisbane from Ho Chi Minh City from 2019, the carrier has confirmed. The announcement was made on the eve of Routes Asia 2018 in Brisbane and followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) and Madam Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh, Vietjet vice president at the Australia – ASEAN Summit.

Eagle Street Pier eyed for revitalisation
Brisbane’s Eagle Street Pier may be revitalised as a mixed-use waterside precinct under a $1.4 billion proposal that has moved closer to approval. The State Government has given the nod for Dexus’s Market Led Proposal to enter the feasibility stage, marking an important step forward for a potential transformation of the popular dining hub.
Dexus Chief Executive Officer Darren Steinberg said plans were still being developed but the opportunity was for a revitalised business and leisure destination which prioritises access to the river and the precinct from the city. Dexus will now work with Brisbane City Council and TransLink to consider the feasibility of the proposal.
