QPAC - Queensland Performaing Arts Centre

Brisbane’s Cultural Precinct, located on a beautiful riverside stretch at the heart of Brisbane, is home to a some of Australia’s leading arts and cultural institutions including: Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA); Queensland Art Gallery; Queensland Museum - South Bank; State Library of Queensland; and Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC).

This collection of co-located cultural institutions on a single site is unique in Australia and rare worldwide. The precinct represents a major government investment, with a replacement value of more than $1 billion along with a $117 million annual investment in operational funding. Together with South Bank Parklands, the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, and neighbouring institutions such as the Queensland Conservatorium, the Cultural Precinct forms a concentration of cultural, educational, retail, and recreational facilities of a quality and scale unparalleled nationally and which rivals many international cities.

The Queensland Government continues to recognise the inherent value of this precinct and in April 2014 released a draft master plan for the precinct’s continued upgrade and redevelopment, which may see the extension of the existing Queensland Museum and inclusion of a new 1500-seat theatre.
